Lone Candidate To Contest Ikom State Constituency II Bye-Election

Posted on October 18, 2018October 18, 2018 By Admin No Comments on Lone Candidate To Contest Ikom State Constituency II Bye-Election

Following the disclosure by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Cross River State, Frankland O. Briyai, that the bye-election to fill the vacant Ikom II State Constituency seat in the Cross River State House of Assembly will hold on November 10, 2018, www.calitown.com can reveal that the election will be a no contest at all as only the candidate of the PDP will be standing for the election.

Stella Nkoro, widow of late assemblyman, Simon Nkoro, besides being the PDP candidate, has emerged as the only person running in the bye-election, we can say. This arrangement is not unconnected with the desire to find a politically amicable settlement that will see her complete the remainder of her deceased husband’s tenure and collect his entitlements.
We also gathered that even other political parties in the area have refused to field candidates, believing that six months is too short a time for them to have a foothold on the seat.

This concensus appears to have been negotiated, accepted and embraced by all political parties in the area as a sign of respect to the late Simon Nkoro who will be buried on November 28, 2018, in Ikom.
