Emmanuel Ugbe, Obudu Council chairman has told the less privileged in his LGA to imbibe the spirit of entreprise, grow their economy as well as promote their social status.

His administration he said, is seriously examining ideas that he hopes will add value to the lives of his people through the pursuit of viable economic ventures. He hinted further that his administration will give priority to agriculture, especially in assisting bee/honey farmers with incentives to increase yield.

In an address read on behalf of the donor, Peter Oti, Elizabeth Adie, the PDP Women Leader in Obudu, said Oti’s gift presentation to widows, physically challenged and market women, can be traced back to 2010, when he saw the need to extend beyond his native Utugwang, his milk of kindness. Oti said he was touched by the economic challenges faced by this category of people and has therefore taken it upon himself to do his bit to add meaning to their lives, adding that he will continue to do so until an appreciable number of people are reached. To the donors.

Ceilia Ogbeche and Rosemary Ayi Asheta, who spoke on behalf of the widows and physically challenged, expressed appreciation

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of bales of wrapper to hundreds of women in the seven wards of Obudu Urban I&II, Ipong, Bediading, Angiaba/Begiaka, Ukpe and Alege/Ubang. The council chairman also presented N50, 000 cash, clothes, and a pledge of N100, 000 to the widows, on his wife’s behalf.
