One Year After, Yakurr LG Boss Restores Water Supply To Council Secretariat, List Achievements

Posted on November 4, 2025 By Admin No Comments on One Year After, Yakurr LG Boss Restores Water Supply To Council Secretariat, List Achievements

As part of visible achievements to mark his first year in office, Yakurr Local Government boss, Yibala Inyang, has rehabilitated and restored water supply to the council secretariat, several years after the council’s water supply infrastructure completely broke down.

Running taps at the council secretariat.

Inyang who made the disclosure in an exclusive chat with www.calitown.com, disclosed that it was sub-human for all categories of staff and visitors to function and conduct business in the secretariat without portable running water. “It was a challenge that we had to tackle head on because it had become very embarrassing that even council staff use the flimsy excuse of going out to ease themselves as an excuse to abscond from their duties. With this water running now, all those excuses can’t fly again and greater devotion to work will be the order of the day”, he said.

New culvert and drainage in Ikpakapit, Ugep.

Inyang listed the construction of culverts with drainage in Ikpakapit Council Ward, the construction of a double culvert in Ijom Council Ward, Ugep. Culvert construction in Ajere and Ntan Council Wards, Ekori, a drainage project in Nko market, Nkpolo Ukpawen Council Ward as well as culvert construction in Yekalikpang, Idomi Council Ward, renovation of the Chairman’s Official Quarters in Ugep and the construction of a modern market in Afrekpe-Epenti Council Ward, Ekori, as projects so far done.

The council boss also listed the construction of a modern pavilion in Mkpani playground, rehabilitation of Agoi Ibami market, construction of a culvert in Biko-Biko, Ugep, construction of a culvert in Usaja, Assiga New Town, the construction of a culvert each in Agoi Ekpo, Inyima and Abanamkpai Ward, Nko, as projects to be executed to reflect his administration’s responsiveness to the pressing needs of his people.

“I have embarked on emergency intervention at the Yakurr Peace Stadium, Ugep, where we constructed a new pavilion to support sporting and communal activities. Four indigenes have been engaged to take care of the place and ensure that no one vandalises what we have some there, as was the case in the past “, he disclosed.

“Let me also inform you that my administration is partnering with the people of Ijiman, Ugep, to build a Model Primary Health Care Centre, and we are working closely with the Cross River State Government to ensure that indigent residents of Yakurr are enrolled in the State Health Insurance Scheme, to bolster health care in my LGA”.

From January 2026, he maintained, “we have concluded plans to support academic excellence and reduce the financial burden on parents by approving bursaries for five students from each of the 13 council wards in Yakurr, bringing the total to 65 beneficiaries currently studying in various universities across the country.”

Recent empowerment undertaken by council.

He also pointed at Council investments in youth empowerment, agriculture, peace and security, sports, economic support, among others, as areas his administration has invested in and will continue to do so in the interest of his people.
