The Cross River State Police Command says it has arrested one Sunday Ben Reuben, a native of Nsit Ibom, Akwa Ibom State as preliminary investigations into the recent discovery of several badly kept corpses on February 13th, 2026, in a local embankment hall in Isong Inyang community, Akamkpa LGA, continue.

Eitokpah Sunday, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP, and Police Public Relations officer, Cross River State Police Command, who made this disclosure, stated in a press statement that the police had to respond after reports circulated in sections of the media after several corpses in a badly run down shack were discovered and alarmed the public.

Operatives, he further revealed, were immediately mobilized to the scene to verify the report. Upon arrival, eight well-dried corpses were discovered in the hall.

The suspect is currently in custody, and a comprehensive investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the matter and to determine whether any laws have been contravened.

The Police Command in the state, urges members of the public to remain calm and refrain from speculation, as further verified updates will be communicated in due course, the PPRO stated.
