While CRS governor, Ben Ayade, has directed that low income earners be exempted from paying certain categories of taxes in the state, the Godwin Nyiam-led Department of Public Transportation, DOPT, CRS, appears to have activated the Cross River State Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency law, outlining 76 offences and fines that may ‘kill’ motorists in the state.

1).Driving with expired driving license………. 3,000
2).Driving without a driver’s license……. 8,000
3). Driving an unregistered vehicle…… 10,000
4). Driving a commercial vehicle without hachney/stage carriage license….. 5,000.00… 10,000
5). Being in possession of driving license and driving of any vehicle by a person under 18 years of age…… 10,000
6). Driving a vehicle without a cover note or a certificate of insurance…. 10,000
7). Carrying a roof rack without permit…. 5,000
8). Not wearing a commercial conductor’s badge… 5,000
9). Not wearing a commercial driver’s badge…… 5,000
10). Driving a vehicle with worn-out tyres….. 5,000
11). Not being in possession of a certificate of road worthiness…. 5,000
12). Exceeding prescribed number of passangers….. 5,000
13). Carrying animals with passangers in a vehicle…. 5,000
14). Goods above the authorized weight…. 5,000….. 10,000
15). Driving a vehicle with single or no headlight….. 5,000
16). Driving a vehicle with defective head light…. 3,000
17). Driving a vehicle with a defective rear lights… 3,000
