L-R: Ukpukpen and Lebo during an official engagement

In 149 words, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA, John Gaul Lebo, has penned a touching dirge to Stephen Ukpukpen, the member of the CRSHA, who slumped to his death on May 30, 2018. Lebo wrote on his Facebook page thus:

“Dear Steve,

This was not the plan!

But we cannot question God.
I wake up everyday to see your call or message. .”What’s the plan?”

On the 29th of May, alongside Deputy speaker, Williams and Peter, we agreed on the plan for 30th May.
Later, you called me to insist that you wanted to present the CRS Government Public Accounts Report the next day at plenary.
At your instance, we reconvened the House for 30th of May.
I woke up to recieve a call at 7am on 30th of May that you had slumped.

At 7.20 am before I arrived the scene of the incident, you were no more.
Definitely, this was not the plan.
This reality has refused to Abide. .
Obviously, only God knows the original plan of Man.
Life is just a privilege in accordance with the Will of God
Rest in peace the ….Sheik …the Great Ekung .

This was not the Plan…..”

Ukpukpen’s sudden death has been the top trending story in the state’s social circles. He was the member representing Obudu State Constituency, before he passed on.
