There Shall Be A Clarion Call… “SAN” Must Answer!

Posted on May 10, 2020 By Admin No Comments on There Shall Be A Clarion Call… “SAN” Must Answer!
Joe Agi, SAN

He rose to prominence and recognition because he selflessly took on the establishment. He has been a fighter who has painstakingly risked all, because he desires the best for his people. At a time, when others were afraid to fight for the protection of our collective patrimony, he was conscious and risked his life to ensure that the asset of the State was not sold out. He is always in a battle to ensure our collective desires were not only realized but sustained. As risky as it was then, under the military regime, he rose up to the challenges of saying no to certain devious actions of government. He was placed on house arrest!! What a price to pay? He anchored the Cross River Redemption Movement, a platform through which he fought for the liberation of CRS from the hands of some callous leaders, whose unwavering egotistical behavior remained detrimental to the advancement of our State. His drives and modest inspiration, has been to liberate his people from the devastating money-grubbing leadership of some leaders.

Unfortunately, he has not had the opportunity to activate the real governance power required to make an effective change most desired. Yet, in his private practice, he has fought for a lot of people and set them free from the draconian, oppressive, ruthless, tyrannical and debilitating almost destructive behavior of wicked leaders. Most of these fights, he did them free. He has privately, unannounced, responsively sponsored a lot of people who were involved in scholarly pursuit. Some lawyers can attest to this. He spent his private personal resources to help people across borders. Not known to be a noisemaker, but a man who fights for the uplifting of the helplessly downtrodden in the society. He rose to prominence by dint of hardwork, patience through suffering and sheer sacrifice. It is true that he has made it to the top. He agrees that hard work pays. This is why he believes in the fact that, rather than give you a fish, let me teach you how to catch a fish. But then, he has this understanding that opportunities are diverse and open up to all. His point is: provide the workable zeal to overcome limitations, he will come in to lead the path to assist in your destiny. A man who feels that hardwork pays; who is filled with compassion and empathy; and is a classical personality who has risen through the rank to attain the highest level in his professional career, is a man we can trust. His meteoric rise to the pinnacle of his profession, from the background of no godfather is an impressive inspiration that we must identify with as a people. He is broad minded, exposed, intellectually engaging, abundantly dispassionate in his dealings with issues and people, graciously blessed and is mercifully ready to give back to the society that has offered him so much. His generosity is unparalleled, yet unannounced. He is diligently pursuing the goal of affecting humanity especially now.

Our ignorance about issues of governance for him is worrisome. He has capacity, character, immeasurable competence, dexterity, broad knowledge of law as a learned man, and what more divine wisdom. Who can, indeed, undermine the sagacity albeit profundity and tremendous influence he has made within the legal profession in Nigeria. His name rings at all time. He is most envied amongst his colleagues for his resoluteness to establish an enviable profound influence within the legal profession. He is a classical example of what I can describe as “assertiveness”. People mistake his assertiveness for aggressiveness. Needless to say he seems to be in charge at all times. He has an emotional response where he perceives another’s problem and authentically ,indeed, genuinely wants to help resolve people’s problem. We need to be creative to find real solutions to the issues our generation faces. He is an ingenious personality with the midas touch and can spontaneously evaluate challenges with the view to providing practical solutions. Personally, I can vouch for him making a mark.

For him, success is achieved with perseverance. We must keep working, keep trying and keep going. We must be able to walk away when things are not working, take a break and come back fresh and ready to “fight,” negotiate or whatever the matter requires. He is a tasted and trusted personality, who can consistently conspicuously make a very remarkable difference. Only a man of his kind, can overcome the current challenges of underdevelopment bedeviling us as a people. Because he has a listening ear and also has the capacity to get result, let’s know that we can count on the above capacity, potentiality albeit strong point. He certainly shall bring legislations that will attract development to us. Why don’t we join by outlining our desires and expectations, which should, in my view, form the fulcrum or yardstick that we should use in judging him at the appointed time. Representation actually begins from the people. What do you want? That will form a fascinating paradigm of judging him. Together we can deliver the dividend of democratic representation. There shall be inputs required from you to make a difference. Should he be at your door steps soon to ascertain what you want? Only you can answer.

Don’t forget, it is your collective calls to service, not necessarily his call to service. Let him be the man to lead. We can send him there. He is able. Let me put it this way. In what way can he perform the following functions:

1.Legislative or Law-Making Functions.
2.Deliberative Functions: To deliberate upon matters of national importance, public issues, problems and needs is an important function of a modern legislature.
3. Custodian of National Finances: joining in holding the purse of the nation and controlling the finances.
4. Control over the Executive.
5. Constituent Functions
6. Oversight Functions
7. Judicial Functions
8. Ventilation of Grievance
9. Miscellaneous functions.

He is constantly conscious of the above responsibilities. He, nevertheless, will certainly require inputs from you, because he feels representation should be particularly participatory. Let’s be honest to state our worries, so that we can take the necessary steps to help out. Let’s boldly and audaciously look at the personality here, devoid of party sentiments.

There shall be a clarion call. Your call to make. He is indeed the idea whose time has come. By the way, who is he? Very soon we shall hear from him and know him personally, although he is already with us. He feels our pulses.!!! Wao!!!!

Thank you CRS North.
