UGEP: One Killed, Monarch’s Palace Attacked As Cults Clash

Posted on June 29, 2017 By Admin No Comments on UGEP: One Killed, Monarch’s Palace Attacked As Cults Clash

Obol Ofem Ubana
Confirmed reports out of Ugep, the Yakurr Local Council headquarters, reveal that one person has been confirmed dead while the personal house of the Obol Lopon of Ugep, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, was destroyed by a mob protesting the suspected cult related killing of the deceased. The palace of the local monarch was also attacked and destroyed by the angry mob, www.calitown.com can also reveal.

We gathered that the feuding cults may have clashed again as a follow-up to the killing of another suspected cultist in the area, not too long ago. While one source maintains that the monarch’s attempt to call in the police obviously created unrest, the attendant killing this evening of a relative to one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide from the area may have triggered the local mob that attacked the monarch’s personal home as well as the palace.

When www.calitown.com spoke with the monarch late Thursday evening, he confirmed the attacks on his private home and palace, adding that he remains at a loss regarding why the mob took the laws into their hands while he was on top of the unfortunate situation in the area.

At press time, some residents in the area who have elected to remain anonymous maintain that the local administration in the area has not been decisive in tackling what has become this ugly situation. “It is sacrilegious that this kind of thing is happening, imagine an Ugep person killing another one; it doesn’t happen, but these useless boys have changed the equation and if the Obol Lopon does not demonstrate administrative capacity with this painful and unsettling situation, it will be regrettable then.”

At press time, www.calitown.com was informed that most of those involved in the mayhem have taken to their heels.
