UPCA Express Commitment To Communal Development Of Ugep

Obono, UPCA President.

Driven by visions of a coalition of interests and inspired for the common aims of unity, service and prosperity, the Ugep People Consultative Assembly, UPCA, says it is working to bring together all sons and daughters of the Ugep, Yakurr LGA, Cross River State, to embrace a communal approach to achieving development.

Oka Obono, Africa’s first Professor of Ethnography and President of UPCA, who made this disclosure in Ugep, during the 2025 UPCA general assembly and town hall meeting, further stated that for the community to enjoy assured growth and development, it must leverage on the August home coming of indigenes, use it to discuss challenges that constantly confront the community. “As we discuss, we must focus on a 40 year strategic development plan that will engineer and extend the deliberate development of Ugep”, he said.

Using continuous engagement with the people he added, UPCA will be able to generate and harvest feedback that will be needs specific and used in addressing adequately, the problems that continue to challenge Ugep.

Earlier, Chairman of Yakurr LGA, Yibala Inyang, represented by the Supervisor for Health, Patrick Ije, commended UPCA for embracing community responsibility and demonstrating capacity and commitment to drive development in the area. He assured UPCA that he fully supports their activities and was also ready to lend further support as events unfold. He made a cash donation to UPCA.

Present at the event, Obol Lopon of Ugep and paramount ruler of Yakurr LGA, Obol Ofem Ubana Eteng, praised UPCA for her visionary approach to improving Ugep. He blessed their initiative and promised to rally more community support for UPCA.
