Usumutong/Ediba May Boil Again If…

Posted on March 2, 2014March 3, 2014 By Admin No Comments on Usumutong/Ediba May Boil Again If…

logoEar to the ground calitown.com sources have informed that the Cross River State Government should not treat with kid gloves the seeming under control situation in Ediba and Usumutong, two communities in Abi LGA of the state who nearly engaged in a communal clash, last week.

The sources say the loss of two men, of Ebom and Ediba extraction, suspected to have been taken hostage and killed as well as the discovery of their headless bodies with vital parts missing, is whipping up sentiments that may boil over if urgent steps are not taken by government and her agencies to douse tension and bring those behind the heinous crime to book.

Already, accusing fingers are being pointed at the Usumutong community as being behind the unfortunate action, a situation calitown.com has not ascertained at press time. But one anonymous source in Ediba spoken to revealed that, “the Usumutong people have long prepared for this problem; you can see that they had even gone ahead to, by manual labour, repair the Ugep/Usumutong road for their use, avoiding totally the use of the Ugep/Ediba road that they have used all this while. It demonstrates something I cannot say here, but clearly it shows that they have lined up war time movement options”.

However another source denies the former’s submission and instead said, “we have been using the Ugep/Usumutong road for ages, those who say we just started using it are not just economical with the truth, but seek also to deliberately misinform the public and this is something we must frown at”.

It is expected that government’s response will be decisive and rest this matter for good.
