Why Claimant Rejected Judgement Awarded In His Favour

Posted on January 19, 2014 By Admin No Comments on Why Claimant Rejected Judgement Awarded In His Favour

It has been revealed to calitown.com why last week’s judgement in suit No. HUG/53/2010, delivered by the Honourable Justice Eyo Ita, at the High Court, sitting in Ugep, Yakurr LGA, will be appealed against.

Ita had awarded general damages against one Martins Ubana a.k.a Observer, for assaulting Felix Okoi Uket with a dagger, leading to the severing of his (Felix Okoi Uket’s) hand on the 3rd of July, 2010.

Speaking with calitown.com, Uket revealed that, “for such a vicious and life threatening attack on me, an attack that killed my football career, what can N200, 000, do for me?” He went on to say that “my family and I consider the sum awarded me as outrageous when you consider what I went through in the hands of my attackers and even what I also went through during my admission in hospital and after I was discharged”. Because they are unhappy with the judgement, it was further revealed to calitown.com that an appeal will be filed at a higher court to ensure that “justice is done to me and that my case will be a lesson for several other people who may want to act like my attackers”, Uket concluded.
