Corps Member In C’ River Stuns Host Community

Posted on October 3, 2019 By Admin No Comments on Corps Member In C’ River Stuns Host Community

Stephen M. Teru, an outgoing National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member in Cross River State appear to have chosen the right moment to stun his host community in New Netim, Akamkpa Local Government.

Using basic carpentary skills, Teru handmade desks, benches and shelves for 80 students and pupils in Community Secondary School and St. Georges Primary School, Old Netim, the two public schools in the area. The visibly satisfied Teru even took to his Facebook page to proclaim: “God be the glory! I volunteered my skill to produce desks, tables, benches and shelves for the comfort of over 80 students and pupils of the two public schools (Community Secondary School and St. Georges Primary School) in my host community -Old Netim, Akamkpa LGA. Cross River State.I must in a very special way appreciate the good people of the community for their support.

Big thanks to my ever supportive principal Mr Emmanuel Eni, Sir, you are too much! My NYSC Inspector, Mr Ubong Effanga, thank you Sir! You’ve been a great source of motivation to us all. All my friends and colleagues, thanks for being there” he wrote.

The University of Jos graduate also took out time to dedicate this feat to his family in Jos, Plateau State. We gathered from sources in the area that Teru began manually working on this initiative since June and completed the work just days ago. Pupils, students, staff and parents have expressed appreciation to the corps member for his vision and timely decision to help tackle the near absence of comfortable seating arrangement in the schools
