REVEALED: Real Reason Why Mayorkun Lost Jewelry At Calabar Christmas Show

Posted on December 19, 2023 By Admin No Comments on REVEALED: Real Reason Why Mayorkun Lost Jewelry At Calabar Christmas Show
L-R: Mayorkun and the returned piece of jewelry.

While social media has been awash in the last 24 hours with comments and counter comments after an online post made by celebrated Nigeria musician, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known as Mayorkun, on the heels of his loss of personal jewelry after performing at the ongoing Calabar Christmas Festival, sources in Calabar, present at the show are maintaining that the buzz around this unfortunate incident should be watered down because the action of the artiste at the event triggered the negative consequences that he suffered.

Mayorkun on X, formerly Twitter wrote thus: “CALABAR, You’ll probably NEVER EVER see me again, good luck to the other artistes coming for your festivals tho”, after the event.

One source, who was a DJ at the event, contacted www.calitown.com after Mayorkun’s post and stated that, ‘how can Mayorkun promise his hungry fans 500k without making provisions on how the lucky street boy who won the money will get the money? He did not even finish his performance….he was still having like seven more minutes to play…the next thing…he said Calabar thank you, and headed to his SUV. What do you think will not happen? The boys that came with the guy apprehended him for the money….the rest is this history that he is using to paint Calabar black.” He added that the people who ripped jewelry off him are “the friends of the guy who won the money Mayorkun promised on stage.”

We also gathered that in a fist of fury, the artiste threatened to inflict bodily harm on some officials of the Carnival Committee. “Ask the management of Monty Suites, where Mayorkun stayed if Monday night at the hotel was not a night to forget. He raised dust at the whole place and made it unbearable for security and even guests in the hotel.”

Happily, appeals by Cross River-born music sensation, Iyanya, amazingly yielded a return of a piece of the jewelry ripped off Mayorkun, with deep believe that the other piece will hopefully be returned.

“If he gets all of his stuff back, let him apologize to his audience in Calabar, after he tried to demarket the city and the event”, officials of the event, who have elected to remain anonymous told us. Mayorkun and his team were unavailable for comments at press time.
