CR Lawmaker Makes Appeal For Peace In Renewed Communal Clash

Posted on June 25, 2025 By Admin No Comments on CR Lawmaker Makes Appeal For Peace In Renewed Communal Clash
Williams

Eteng Jonah Williams, senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the Senate, has made a passionate appeal to the warring Boje/Iso Bendeghe communities in Boki Local Government Area, CRS, that peace at all cost must prevail as the communal clash, “…rooted in a long-standing land dispute, has once again led to the loss of lives and left many others injured.”

Williams who made this appeal on his verified Facebook page, expressed sadness at reports of the renewed conflict but appealed “to all parties involved to sheath their swords and allow peace to reign. Violence cannot and will never be the answer. The consequences of communal conflict are devastating not only to those directly involved, but to the future of our children, our communities, and our socio economic development”.

The lawmaker enjoined “community leaders, youth groups, elders, and traditional rulers in Boje and Iso Bendeghe to step forward as peacemakers. Dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation must take precedence over anger and aggression”…while he remains “committed to supporting every genuine effort aimed at peace building and lasting reconciliation in the area.”

Two persons have reportedly been killed in the latest conflict while several others have been injured.
