The next governor of Cross River state will be greatly decided by providence, Bishop Emmah Isong, Chairman of the Pentecostal Federation of Nigeria, PFN, Cross River State and head of the Christian Central Chapel International, has declared.
Isong handed down the declaration during a prayer rally organized in Ogoja, Northern Cross River, as part of a series of programmes in the build-up to the selection and endorsement of a candidate of CR North extraction, to mount the saddle in 2015.
With the theme: ”Thou O Lord knowest the heart of all men, shew whether of these…thou hast chosen” taken from Acts1:24, a mammoth crowd of politicians, religious leaders, traditional rulers, youths and women from the five local government areas that make up the senatorial district, gathered and listened as the clergyman who drew his homily from 1st Samuel 16:11, pronounced that God will choose a man with the moral fibre; who is in right-standing with God, and who will sustain the existing peaceful climate in the state, as the next governor.
Hear him: ”Just as David was chosen as a result of his good heart, God will decide who the next governor will be by that man’s good heart” while urging politicians to denounce all forms of immorality ,cultism, occultism and the likes as these tendencies are not pleasing to God.
Apparently alluding to the quest for a governor from the Northern Senatorial District,Bishop Isong who is also the founder of the fastest growing Christian Central Chapel International[CCCI]in Calabar said the north deserves to be given the 2015 slot for their long patience for the position while the south and central occupied the office.
The man of God drew a loud ovation from the crowd when he told them that, ”If you see anybody from the South or Central coming to contest, he is coming to support you; he is not coming to contest in actual fact”, emphasizing further that the theme for the prayer rally drawn from Acts 1:24 was the prayer of the people of the North in the quest for a governor from that senatorial district.
He was however quick to add that the next governor must work assiduously to reduce poverty, hunger and strife as well as fix infrastructure while urging the people of the senatorial district to remain united and prayerful in their agitation for a governorship position.
Speakers at the event included officials of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Akwazi Akwazi from South Africa, Rev. Enya Egbe, Rev. C.A.Ogar, Rev.[Dr]Elias Agbor, among others, drummed support for the course of the North and offered prayers for the peaceful co-existence of Nigerians.
