CR PDP Chair Fails To Convince Imoke

Posted on October 1, 2014 By Admin 1 Comment on CR PDP Chair Fails To Convince Imoke

pdpSources within government circles in Cross River State have confided in www.calitown.com that last ditch efforts by the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, John Okon, to negotiate what is believed to be a soft landing ground for Imoke’s cabinet members interested in running for governor of CRS, may have hit the rock with the governor’s insistence that those interested in succeeding him must resign from his cabinet and pursue their ambition.

“The party chairman was hoping to convince the governor that those in his cabinet interested in running for governor, should be allowed to stay in office till late October and His Excellency vehemently refused, insisting that the people must leave and go and pursue their respective ambitions. I think it is the right decision to take at this material time and I support Imoke”, one source said.

The list of those caught up in Imoke’s directive include, Mike Aniah, Patrick Ugbe, Legor Idagbo, Peter Ojie, Gerald Ada, Peter Oti, for the governorship position and Temple Edim, Tom Ogar and Alex Egbona, the latter three interested in going to the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, Alex Egbona, Imoke’s immediate past Chief of Staff has swung into action, hoping to capture the Abi/Yakurr House of Representatives seat in CR’s Central District. Late this evening in Calabar, scores of his supporters endlessly parked cars on the full stretch of the Clement Ebri Drive in high brow State Housing Estate to “lend support to Egbona’s ambition”, as one of his supporters put it.
It is expected that the next couple of weeks will represent a tight watershed in the political ambitions of these men, www.calitown.com can predict.
