The Association of Cross River Online Journalists, ACROJ, has restated its commitment to the growth of the journalism profession in Cross River State and the development of the State through proactive and developmental reportage.

The members of the association who met late Wednesday evening in Calabar, made the commitment while reviewing events in the state, particularly the evolving political trend in the state which in her estimation will help create the healthy electioneering and proactive interaction of aspirants with party stakeholders and the electorate; a development which has not been witnessed in the past.

The association also resolved to create a platform for one-on-one interaction with the aspirants with a view to providing each of them the opportunity to present their blueprint for the development of the state ipas well as to provide members of the association with relevant materials that will in turn be transmitted to her teeming readers and the general public with a view to assisting them to make informed decisions in next year’s general elections.

The interaction with the aspirants which will be in phases will start with governorship aspirants, before the Senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly aspirants, take their respective turns.

The association commended the political parties for the level of openness and level playing field given to the aspirants so far and called on the political parties to sustain the openness until the candidate who is the choice of the people emerges at the party primaries.

The meeting had in attendance the interim Chairman of the group, Iwara Iwara and Omini Ikpi of www.calitown.com, Hope Obeten, www.calabarblogspot.com, Declan Ogar and Ogar Emmanuel, www.paradisevoice.com, Obaji Akpet, www.celebmission.com, Emmanuel Unah, www.mycrossriver.com, as well as Agba Jalingo and Jeremiah Archibong of www.crossriverwatch.com
