Austin Ibok, Cross River State Chairman of the Labour Party says recent events within the PDP in CRS “can best be described as internal rebellion by a group of persons within the party, who want not just equal opportunities within the party, but a right also to freely contest elections without the traditional manipulations of the PDP”.

Ibok who spoke with www.calitown.com, late Monday evening, added that “it is clear with this rancorous circumstance that the PDP will not sweep all the elective positions in the state. People will resist imposition because this very flawed undertaking has given CRS a bunch of clueless and visionless elected officials, without the mental capacity to perform. Take a look at the local council authorities, can you see something worth recording happening in any of the LGAs ?

On the chances of his party making any impact at next year’s polls, the chairman was clear that, “because our party is not just an alternative but a credible one, we will at the right time present our candidates and you will see the informed political decisions that our people will make as they vote our candidates into office.” There is however a note of warning that Ibok is sounding out; “our party well not be a negotiating platform, people who want to join us must convince us with their inclusiveness, especially now that we have revived our party’s structures across the entire state. It is the only way we can demonstrate seriousness and political purpose”. He also states clearly that “most party men are joining us and at the right time, we will serve you the full list of men and women you can trust your votes with”.

On a final note, Ibok shows the spirit of sportsmanship as he commends the senator representing CR Southern Senatorial district, Bassey Otu for changing the lives of his constituents with his magnanimity.

what you called rebellion is not the right word, but political gymnastics common with a strong political party· At the end, the dust will settle down·
