For CR gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Ben Ayade, what was suppose to be a courtesy call on Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, in his country home in Ikom, CR Central, late Sunday evening, as the party readies to flag-off her campaign in the state, turned sour as a mob attacked Ayade’s convoy, inflicting considerable damage on one car and several others, www.calitown.com can reveal.

Sources present say the mob may have been angered when it filtered to them that on Ayade’s entourage was John Owan Enoh, who defeated Ndoma-Egba in the party’s contentious primaries conducted recently. While Ayade, Enoh, Emmanuel Ibeshi, state party chairman, John Okon, Ayade’s running mate, Ivara Esu, among others escaped unhurt in the armoured vehicle that conveyed them to Ndoma-Egba’s home, Gov. Imoke’s Legal Adviser, Mark Obi, was not lucky. His black Prado jeep’s side glass was shattered by a hail of stones rained on the car.

At the Joranny Hotel, Ikom, where Ayade and his entourage retired to, attempts by a party stalwart in the area, Chris Agara, to calm nerves were calmly acknowledged by Ayade’s entourage, with Ayade preaching peace and reconciliation.

Contacted about the incident, Ndoma-Egba said he was unaware of the attack, stating emphatically that ” it took place outside my house and I am not in the know. I was only informed by Chris Agara that Ayade was coming to my house, I did not know too that Rowan Enoh was coming with him”.

It was pieced by www.calitown.com that there is no love lost between Ndoma-Egba and Owan Enoh, eventhough evidence seems to abound that the latter has made reconciliatory overtures to the former which have not been well received, sources in Ikom insist. Owan Enoh has however sued for peace, insisting that whatever differences may have influenced the attack will be amicably addressed.

think it provocative for Rowan to sneak up on the Senator like that. It cannot happen elsewhere. Ikom people should not be taken for granted.
