Eteng Williams, the member representing Yakurr II State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly says it is amazing that President Muhammadu Buhari has chosen to go with the choice of Rear Admiral I. E. Ibas, a Cross Riverian, as the new Chief of Naval Staff. The assemblyman who spoke with www.calitown.com in his office late Tuesday evening, added that Ibas’ “appointment is not just a step in the right direction but a recognition of excellence which Ibas has over the years come to represent as a highly trained officer”.

Furthermore, Williams opines that the new Naval chief will “do Yakurr II State Constituency, Yakurr Local Government and Cross River State proud in the discharge of his functions”, while also imploring the good people of the state to always pray for the Naval chief who will need all our prayers to succeed”.

Meanwhile, the Assemblyman has reacted to the recent dust raised by the decision of the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly, John Gaul Lebo, appointing him as his Special Adviser in the Assembly. “It is important to state that the appointment is an internal arrangement that comes with no remuneration. Mr Speaker in his wisdom decided that I add my legislative experience to his as we push our functions forward, those who are however furious about this decision should do a critical rethink and see the merits in the Speaker’s decision. We must move forward in the interest of the state”, he concluded.
