Late Peter Bello
Late Peter Bello
Friends, relatives and sympathizers, still in shock, have been trooping in droves to the Federal Housing Estate, Calabar residence of the Bellos, parents of the co-pilot, First Officer Peter Bello, who died in the Bristow Sikorsy S-76C+ helicopter that crashed into the Lagos lagoon on Wednesday, just five minutes before landing, www.calitown.com can reveal.

At 09.19 am, this morning when a www.calitown.com reporter visited the residence, a long line of cars was outside the premises, while several people were inside the house to commiserate with the family. One person at the house who declined to give his name expressed “shock that this very young man (Peter) is dead. I am at a loss and very pained because as a father, I pray always that my children should bury me and not me burying them. When a child like this with wonderful prospects dies, we parents never recover from the pain. I just pray that God will console this family”. Another sympathizer, a lady, prayed that “God should protect this family, it is indeed a very tough time for them, I can feel their pain and we must all pray for them” A few teary-eyed women were also seen entering and exiting the premises.

Peter Bello and Joseph Wyatt, the first pilot, were conveying 12 oil workers from an oil rig station when their helicopter plunged into the Oworonshoki, Lagos area of the lagoon. Local divers and others from the emergency management agencies fished out Bello and Wyatt, said to be still strapped to their seats when the divers got to them.

We at www.calitown.com join our prayers for the Bello family to the prayers of other sympathizers.
