EFCC Visits CR Governor’s Personal Residence

Posted on August 23, 2016August 24, 2016 By Admin No Comments on EFCC Visits CR Governor’s Personal Residence

efccNigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, sources late Tuesday evening informed www.calitown.com, visited the personal residence of Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, on the strength of several petitions written to the anti-corruption agency against the governor and close cronies.

When www.calitown.com reporters visited Duke Town Close, in highbrow State Housing Estate, Calabar, where the governor’s residence is located, several cars were seen packed at the entrance of the imposing structure with suspected operatives of the EFCC believed to be inside the building just as a few blue bullet proof vested mobile policemen were sighted outside the building.

Anonymous sources around the area who volunteered information say the EFCC operatives arrived the building minutes after 2pm. The sources further disclosed that the place was a beehive of activity, hours before the EFCC operatives arrived, as a handful of Sports Utility Vehicles, SUVs, were driven out of the residence. A caterpillar, driven out of the residence, was spotted, parked in a street close to the residence late Tuesday evening. It was still unclear as at press time what reasons may have influenced the decision of the EFCC to storm the residence eventhough whispers have been rife that a flurry of petitions against the governor and his cronies may have been at the centre of the petitions.

Contacted government sources are keeping mum over the situation but one government source maintained over the phone that, “anybody can be visited by the EFCC and since the governor and his cronies are not ghosts, what the EFCC did today does not amount to an indictment of our hardworking digital governor, poised to take Cross River State to the next level”.
