Police Maintain C’R APC Congress Materials Are Still In Their Custody

Contrary to gist been bandied around by John Etim, controversial APC Chairman in Cross River State that the party’s congresses were held on Sunday, after the controversies that trailed the congresses on Saturday, the police in CRS has informed www.calitown.com that all the materials meant for the exercise but submitted to the police, after some contentions, for safe keeping, are still in police custody.

Hafiz Inuwa, Commissioner of Police, Cross River State, when contacted this afternoon at exactly 4:09 pm, confirmed to www.calitown.com that “…the materials were brought to the police by a group of APC members for safe keeping and until all of them come back as a group and agree that they want the materials back, we cannot hand over the materials to anybody”. Confronted with further questions, the CP warned that “… no attempt should be made by anybody to, through lies, malign the police. Our integrity on this matter is at stake and will not waiver. Those who attempt this will be decisively dealt with; this we can assure.”

Meanwhile, Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Usani Uguru Usani, appears to be at the centre of this controversy. Informed sources in the party maintain that, acting under his instructions, congress materials they suspect, were taken to the house of front line Bakassi politician, Florence Ita-Giwa, in furtherance of Usani’s suspected desire to exclude certain chieftains of the party from taking part in the exercise.

Again, we were informed that “…there is a Rotimi Amaechi connection to all of this confusion. First, Amaechi handpicked all the members of the six panels for the congresses in the South-South, with strict instructions to do his bidding. That bidding is the impunity that you have seen all over the place and Usani is the arrowhead for that impunity in CRS; it is unfortunate, painful and out of sorts with the ideals of the APC.”

At press time, our investigations also reveal that legal representations will in the next couple of hours be forwarded to the headquarters of the party in Abuja, even though some members of the party in the state think National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, may have been compromised.
