Enter Blessing Ubi, Miss Leboku 2013

Posted on August 26, 2013 By Admin 3 Comments on Enter Blessing Ubi, Miss Leboku 2013

Blessing Ubi Christopher is by all standards living her dream today and the reason is simple, she just won the coveted “Miss Leboku” title in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Council, Cross River State. The competition, open to young maidens in the community has as star prize, a car and further ancillary benefits. When calitown.com cornered Blessing, she cut the picture of a young girl who has set her sights on taking the period of her reign to the next level.

First, the 18 year old told calitown.com that the competition for the top prize was “tough” and that “other contestants gave a very good account of themselves, it is amazing that I won”. But again, if the contestants were tough, her parents were the first obstacle to realizing her dream. Hear her, “my parents did not want me to take part, but I had to beg them to let me do this and when they finally gave their blessing, I put my all to it”.
Calitown.com sought to know what will preoccupy her as “Miss Leboku” and she does not waste time in laying the cards bare. “I will commit myself to working for the less privileged”, she begins, saying further that “especially too, I hope to be able to gather enough relief materials for those with needs that we can identify”. She seems committed too to tackling teenage pregnancies in her local community, drawing attention through a campaign we hear her advisors are fine tuning.

One challenge that she pointed calitown.com to and one she is poised to confront too, is the near dearth of indigenous girls taking more than a passive part in the festival since according to her, “the more they (girls) come out, the better for us”.

Her confidence is infectious as she explains issue after issue, you certainly are taken in by her innocence, poise, and rather shy person beneath what we see. In between she pauses to take a sip from the bottle of soft drink in front of her and then shows her shy side when calitown.com, put this question to her, “If God gave you the option of being an animal, which animal will you prefer to be?” It is a question that sends her into fits of shy laughter. When she gets herself together, what pick she makes is amazing. “I will go for the Peacock”, she says and accordingly, calitown.com wants to know why and she says the Peacock is proud of itself and by extension is a glorification and acceptance of what God has made out of the bird. We are blown away and prefer to leave it at that considering too that we get our prompt to the effect that our time with her is over.

Calitown.com for sure will be looking out in the days ahead to see what this lady who wants to study Mass Communication brings to the ‘throne’.

If there is any body saying Blessing does not worth this crown, 2 me is a wicked person. Because with the intellect possessed by this girl, i dont see anybody being an obstacle, not even her fellow contestants. So lets stop criticism and celebrate with her. Congrats Blesso!
