APC Crisis: Court Bars Etim John Led Exco From Parading Self

Posted on May 31, 2018 By Admin No Comments on APC Crisis: Court Bars Etim John Led Exco From Parading Self

A Cross River State High Court presided over by Justice Achu Ewa, has granted an ex parte motion restraining factional C’R All Progressives Congress State Executive, led by Etim John, from parading themselves or acting in any capacity as State Executive officers of the APC in the state.

The embattled Exco was also restrained from “… exercising or performing the duties, functions … or enjoying any benefits as officers of the APC, Cross River State.”

Joe Oloko, lawyer and counsel to Matthew Achigbe and one other, plaintiffs, who sought and got the order, informed www.calitown.com when contacted that his clients had to approach the court with this demand when it was becoming increasingly clear that certain elements within the APC in the state were bent on subverting the will of the people. “These people concocted and drew up a list of names that were submitted to the National Executive in Abuja, without conforming to laid down party guidelines. The conduct of the congresses in question had no substantial compliance other than them being manipulated as far as it pleased Usani Usani and Etim John. What they all did was a fraud and we cannot let that stand; we are law abiding citizens, the reason why we went to court and obtained this order. The right thing must be done”, he insisted.

Several attempts to speak with Etim John via telephone and get his reaction, were unsuccessful.

Recall that the relentless internal crisis in C’R APC has seen Niger Delta Affairs minister, Usani Usani, Etim John and a few others, in one camp, square up against an illustrious camp that has John Owan Enoh, former governor Clement Ebri, Venatius Ikem, Paul Adah and others, on the other side, in a battle for political supremacy. June 7, 2018, has been fixed for hearing and determination of the order.
