Late CR Assemblyman’s Widow To Complete Husband’s Tenure

Posted on August 31, 2018 By Admin No Comments on Late CR Assemblyman’s Widow To Complete Husband’s Tenure
Late Simon Nkoro

While it is no more news that the member representing Ikom II State Constituency, Simon Nkoro, has passed on, reliable information gathered by www.calitown.com point to the fact that his wife, Stella Nkoro, will, barring any last minute changes, be nominated by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  in Cross River State, to replace her late husband in the Cross River State House of Assembly.

Sources within the party, who pleaded anonymity, maintained that stakeholders of the party in Ikom, resolved at a meeting this week to let Stella replace her husband, so she can have access to all his entitlements as a legislator. “You know the man has a daughter going to school in Ukraine, for instance, and we reasoned that it will be unfair to tamper with any process that will make it difficult for Nkoro’s children to survive. His wife will contest the bye-election, days from now and hopefully win. It is not just a humane decision, it is the right one from us to the family in their dark moment”, one source volunteered.

This arrangement clearly replicates the one recently put in place in Obudu State Constituency, CRS, following the death of Stephen Ukpukpen, who represented the Constituency, and the subsequent election of his wife, to complete the deceased Assemblyman’s tenure. We also gathered that the late Simon Nkoro, had worked out and sold a political succession plan to his people before he passed on. The plan, appears to have picked out one individual who will contest for the Ikom II State Constituency seat, after Stella vacates office. “We are working on honouring that plan, as a sign of respect to our departed brother. It will of course be an internal party decision, one meant to tie the PDP in Ikom together. Nkoro’s wife will have the opportunity of finishing the work her husband started, to the glory of God”, we were told.
