Ndoma-Egba Condemns Political Violence In Etung LGA

Ndoma-Egba

Chairman, Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Central Senatorial District of Cross River State, Victor Ndoma-Egba SAN, has condemned the needless orgy of political violence that occurred in Etomi community, Etung Local Government on Friday 18th January, 2019.

The unfortunate situation which is said to involve supporters of the APC and PDP is alleged to have been triggered by the destruction of billboards and posters of candidates of both political parties.  Ndoma-Egba had earlier condemned the billboards war that started in Calabar in late December 2019 and spilled over to Ikom a few weeks back.

A statement released and signed by the Ndoma-Egba Campaign Organization’s Media and Communication Head, Sunny Udeh, states that, “…the same situation repeated itself in Etung and escalated into a bloody confrontation leading to the use of dangerous weapons to inflict severe bodily injuries on human beings is totally unnecessary and unacceptable, no matter the circumstances. The Senator therefore urges everyone to sheathe their swords and let calm return. Politics should be played with the fear of God and with conscience. Politics should be played with a deep sense of decorum and respect for humanity. Politics should be played within the ambit of law and order. We are a civilized people and must live and act to reflect this at all times”.

Furthermore, the release went on to say, “…as the elections approach, Senator Ndoma-Egba charges all the law enforcement agencies to be alive to their responsibilities and calls on all political supporters to desist from inciting, carrying out or participating in political violence. The sanctity of human life and the right to free association should be respected at all times”, it concluded.
