Akpanke, addressing the women.

Member representing Obudu/Bekwarra/Obanliku Federal Constituency, Cross River State, in the House of Representatives, Peter Akpanke, has maintained that those who made it a duty to misinform his constituents that his works of charity to widows, the handicapped, the aged and a large proportion of less privileged people, before his election to the parliament, will not continue when he wins the election, have now buried their heads in shame as he has consistently returned, after his election to continue catering to the needs of his people.

Akpanke who made this submission when he splashed cash and millions of naira worth of gift items on widows in his constituency, added that as an orphan, who had long identified with the enormous challenges of widows, his attachment to helping ease those challenges, started long before he had thoughts of contesting for elective office and vowed to continue catering for them in the little way he can, even after leaving elective office.

“Yes, it is unfortunate that you are all widows, but God is using me to fill the gaps left behind by your late husbands. God is using me to serve a purpose as a man he has raised to answer to your cries, I promise to keep doing my best for you; this is the third time I have come to this constituencies see you people and there are many days ahead that I will keep doing this”, he said.

Acknowledging cheers from the women.

He assured his people that, for as long as he remains their representative, the lines of legislation that he will pursue will be expertly crafted to accommodate the core needs of his constituency. Akpanke also asked for prayers and support to help him discharge his functions adequately.

Akpanke and wife kneel as the women pray for them.
