APC Chieftain Drags House Of Reps Member Before Police Over Threat To Life

Posted on April 9, 2015 By Admin No Comments on APC Chieftain Drags House Of Reps Member Before Police Over Threat To Life

Olayinka Ricketts
Olayinka Ricketts
Chief of Staff to the State Chairman of APC, Olayinka Ricketts has dragged the member representing Yakurr/Abi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Bassey Eko Ewa, before the police, on the strength of a “Threat To Life…” petition which also named one Yibala Inyang and Omini Ekim, alongside the House of Reps member, as trying “…to kidnap and assassinate…” the plaintiff “during the duration of the presidential and gubernatorial elections on the 11th of April, 2015”.

A copy of the letter dated 27th March, 2015 and addressed to the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 6, Calabar, CRS, made available to www.calitown.com, further states that, “one David Iferi claiming to be a policeman attached to the State C.I.D (Criminal Investigation Department) State Police Command, met me on the 23rd of March at the APC state secretariat in Calabar claiming that Bassey Eko
Ewa told him that he saw me at the Calabar airport on the 21st of March with a suspect he was after when APC members came to receive the (APC) State Chairman on his return from Abuja, and that he intends to take me off the streets except I co-operate with him”.

Ricketts by the third paragraph of his petition, fingers one Bassey Mark Uba as having informed “me that he was at a meeting on the 21st of March hosted by Bassey Eko Ewa, where plans were hatched to
eliminate me and my family” and that, “David Iferi, Omini Ekim and Yibala Inyang were all present at the said meeting”.

Before Ricketts passionately implored the AIG to use his good office and bring “Bassey Eko Ewa, Omini Ekim, Yibala Inyang and David Iferi to book”, he specifically states that in recent times, he has
“…noticed unknown persons trailing my movement, I am very apprehensive of my safety as these persons have the wherewithal to carry out their nefarious plans”.

At the Zone 6 police headquarters, the policeman in the eye of the storm, David Iferi, was summoned and interrogated after what police sources say is a routine investigation “that should help us get to the
root of the matter”.
Meanwhile, Bassey Ewa has informed www.calitown.com that he knows “nothing about the petition and can remember seeing Yinka Ricketts at the airport, we shook hands and embraced each other, to hear that he has written this petition is surprising. He is not contesting any election with me and there’s nothing we are struggling over. He may have made a mistake, it will be addressed as brothers always will address issues”.
