Admist all the confusion in the last couple of days, President Muhammadu Buhari has today suspended the Chief Justice of the Federation, CJN, Cross River State born Justice Walter Onnoghen.

In his place, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed has been sworn-in in acting capacity. Buhari performed the ceremony at the presidential villa, Abuja.

65 year old Tanko Mohammed is a Sharia Judge with a Ph.D in sharia law and hails from Bauchi State.

Tanko Muhammad, was appointed as Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2006 and was sworn in on the 8th of January 2007, the appointment he holds until today’s appointment as Acting Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN).
