Calabar Church Refuses To Wed Couple On Their Wedding Day

The bride, Gladness

We can reliably inform that there was confusion this past Saturday at the Assemblies of God Church, Calabar District as the church bluntly refused to join together a couple who had arrived the church for their wedding.

Sources within the church informed www.calitown.com that the Assistant District Superintendent, Emmanuel Essien, fingered to be at the centre of this drama, refused to wed one Gladness Daniel and her man, simply identified to www.calitown.com as Ogbeche, after the church discovered that the bride to be was one month pregnant.

While more church sources maintained to us that both man and woman attempted to hoodwink the church hierarchy into solemnising their union, eagle eyed senior church officials appear to have been alerted to the fact that contrary to the couple’s submission that there has been no sexual relationship between the duo, the bride was actually pregnant.
This dception is believed to have irked the church hierarchy into calling off the wedding with invited guests already seated in the church. “It is against the Assemblies of God Church principles to join two perons guilty of premarital sex in and the couple knew this but they felt they could go around this rule without the church knowing and see where it landed them. The groom, Gladness, initially refused to present the test result to the church early enough but later confessed to the diaconate board on close scrutiny and the church had to stand her grounds”, a source in the church informed.

Unable to bear the disappointment, the bride’s younger brother physically attacked the pastor at the parsonage, taking the intervention of other church members to save the pastor. The assailant we gathered was later taken away by security personnel, invited to the church.

The wedding ceremony is believed to have been taken to another church as all attempts to make the Assemblies of God Church bulge, failed.

Let anyone without sin cast the stone first. May God forgive them all.
