While residents of Calabar, the Cross River State capital, wake to a last working day of the week, security men and woman in their numbers have taken up positions in several strategic areas in the metropolis, even blocking access to some parts of town in what is a massive security lockdown as President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP Presidential Campaign Team berths in Calabar this morning, www.calitown.com can reveal.

Jonathan and his team, which will comprise V-P Nemadi Sambo and a broad spectrum of national party figures, will arrive for a rally slated to hold at the main bowl of the U J Esuene stadium, Calabar. Host governor, Liyel Imoke and his deputy, Efiok Cobham, State PDP chairman, John Achort Okon, PDP governorship flag bearer, Ben Ayade, and several other prominent members of the party in the state and beyond are on hand to receive the President.

Different groups supporting the President’s reelection bid from across the state, can be seen this morning being conveyed to the venue of the rally as human and vehicular traffic remains very heavy. David Okon, a resident of the city who spoke to www.calitown.com says, “you can expect this kind of situation today because a lot of people are in Calabar to support Jonathan, we can only plead that residents understand that the situation will ease off immediately the rally is over and the man and his entourage head to neighbouring Akwa Ibom”.
