The police in Calabar, Cross River State, have charged one Kufre Edet Daniel, 30, to court for raising false alarm and causing a few persons, now at large, to attack and assault one Edu Elobo John, causing him grave bodily harm which almost killed him.

Kufre Daniel, police say, had on September 7, 2023, at Sacred Heart, Lagos Street, Calabar, cried out that Eshu John, used magic to take away his private part. A mob quickly rounded Eshu John up and attacked him. It took the timely intervention of policemen from the Atakpa Police Station, who swooped in, snatched the victim of the attack away, for Eshu to survive.

At the police station, the police insist that, Kufre Daniel, stoutly maintained that his manhood was missing, information the police say, he knew was false and contravened Section 125A (1) (a) (b) of the Criminal Code C 16 Vol. 3, Laws of Cross River State, Nigeria – 2004. He was also charged committing felony and assault, which contravenes Section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap C. 16 Vol. 3 Laws of Cross River State – 2004.

He has since been remanded at the Afokang Corrections Centre, Calabar, for appearance in court on a later date.
