CONFIRMED: Ayade Set To Appoint PDP Senatorial Aspirant As Commissioner

Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, has concluded plans to appoint a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, senatorial aspirant, as one of eleven appointees, into the Cross River State Executive Council.

Goddy Ettah, a former Commissioner for Water Resources, who dumped Ayade, when the governor moved to the All Progressives Congress, has realigned with the governor and joins, Janet Ekpenyong, Ekwele Agube, Sunday Williams Awara, Wogar Umari, Hippolytus Lukpata, Patrick Ebam, Okoma Inyang, Denet Eyo Nsing, Ankpo Pius Edet and Ekpenyong Effiom Iso, in a list of Commissioner-nominees, forwarded to the Speaker, Cross River State House of Assembly.

The list contained in a letter signed by Tina Banku Agbor, Secretary to the Cross River State Government, with reference number, SSG/S/300/VOL. XIXX/91, dated December 15, 2022, sighted by www.calitown.com, specifically stated that, “in the exercise of the powers conferred on His Excellency, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, Governor of CRS, by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended, I am directed to inform you that His Excellency intends to appoint the following persons as commissioners”.

Ettah who contested the Cross River Central Senatorial primaries of the PDP and lost to former Speaker of the CRSHA, Bassey Eko Ewa, contested the outcome of the primaries in court and lost. While rumours flew around that he has jumped ship, suggesting too that he is set to declare for the APC, his nomination by Ayade appears to be the clearest sign that he will be joining the APC.
