CR: Ayade’s Aide Confirms LG Elections Will Hold

Posted on November 26, 2019November 26, 2019 By Admin No Comments on CR: Ayade’s Aide Confirms LG Elections Will Hold
Ayade

Barring any last minute change of plans, Christian Ita, Chief Press Secretary to CRS governor, Ben Ayade, has exclusively confirmed to www.calitown.com that local government elections will be conducted in the state.

Consequently, a message circulating on social media to the effect that, “…In the discharge of his statutory function as contained in Sec. 204 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, (as amended) in accordance with Sec 20 (1) a&b of the CRS Electoral Law, H. E. Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade KSJi, Gov. of CRS has approved and directed the conduct of LG Elections in the state”, appears true.

The message went on to say that, political parties, stakeholders and the general public are hereby invited to a parley tomorrow, 27th Nov. 2019″, even though the message vaguely referred to “…the Commission HQ @ 2 pm”, without clearly stating which Commission it was referring to. The message, just like Ita, did not state a tentative date for the election.

The conduct of local government elections in the state has been at the centre of a thorny disagreement between progressive elements of the opposition APC party and the Ayade administration. A court judgement in APC members’ favour in lieu of this elections has been repeatedly brandished.
