Cross River State-born Professor of Sociology, Oka Martin Obono, will deliver the 512th Inaugural Lecture of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

The academic event is billed to hold at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 4pm. He will be speaking on the “The Double Descent of Ethnodemography”.

Obono who also is the President of Yakurr Academic Society, a select academic community of indigenous Yakurr people, will during the lecture throw more light on the scientific description of peoples and cultures with their customs, habits, and mutual differences.

With more than 30 years experience as a working thorough bred academic, Obono is highly sought after at national and international levels, where his extensive and incisive academic works continue to add substance to the body of knowledge.

An inaugural lecture is an occasion of significance in an academic staff member’s career at the University. Inaugural lectures provide newly appointed professors with the opportunity to inform colleagues, the campus community and the general public of their work to date, including current research and future plans.
