CR PDP Tinker Internal Processes Ahead Of LG Elections

Posted on December 10, 2019 By Admin No Comments on CR PDP Tinker Internal Processes Ahead Of LG Elections
Edim Inok Edim, CR PDP Chair

Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, internal party preparations for next February, 2020 local council elections in Cross River State, we have reliably gathered that the party’s chapter chairmen in the state have this evening been instructed to work out modalities for the submission of three candidates each for the position of council chairman and councillors across the state.

Top sources inside the party further informed www.calitown.com that the directive by the PDP in the state hopes to first whittle down the number of aspirants to a manageable fraction before local government caucuses will meet to pick and endorse the party’s flag bearers for the respective elective positions before forwarding same to the state caucus.

Should any local government caucus fail to agree on candidates for the position of chairman and councilors, an internal party arrangement believed to have insisted for a list of three persons per position and transited finally to the state governor, Ben Ayade, will see candidates picked in what is akin to the governor exercising veto powers in choosing a candidate(s). Meanwhile party local government caucuses are expected to be held tomorrow, Wednesday, 2019, while state party caucus will hold the next day, Thursday.

We also gathered that the party in the state is working hard to ensure that she fields candidates who are popular and can win elections, to help her avoid the practice of imposing candidates on the electorates.
