New Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Florence Obi, has been congratulated by the Cross River State Political Network, CRISPON, on her appointment as VC and further described her as having the drive and capacity to steer the university to greater heights.

The congratulation was contained in remarks made by Mike Nku Abuo, founder and Director General of CRISPON, at a brief ceremony and investiture of the VC as matron of CRISPON held this past Sunday at the Transcop Hotel, Calabar.

Abuo while expressing delight at the appointment of Obi, was particular that CRISPON was grateful too that the VC immediately deemed it fit to appoint Michael Okom, a Professor and patron of CRISPON as Deputy Vice Chancellor Adminstration of Unical. He further came clear that CRISPON believes in her ability to turn things around in the university and assured her of his organization’s total loyalty and commitment in ensuring that she succeeds as VC of the University of Calabar.

In her response, the VC expressed happiness and appreciation to CRISPON for finding her worthy of this honour and described the leader as “a young and committed person who excels at what he focuses on.” She promised the organization that she will work at ensuring that the university takes her place among the comity of universities in the country while suing for CRISPON’s support. Highlight of the occasion was the investiture proper and an accompanying evening socialising with members of the organization.

CRISPON is an online and offline socio-political organization in Cross River State drawing membership from a large pool of young men and women.

Madam VC, you don’t need honours like this until completion of your tenure. Next they’ll begin to pressurize you for financial and other supports. You’re the head of a citadel of learning and centre of excellence, not a politician.

Pls stay away from patronizing local groups like this. If you were still in the Faculty of Education they would not have found you worthy. They all come with a high sense of entitlement. Let the honours wait till November 30, 2025.
