Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, has approved Thursday, 26th and Friday, 27th January, 2023 as work -free days in the state to enable civil and public servants across the state collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in readiness for the 2023 General Elections.

Eric Anderson, the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, who issued a press statement to this effect, stated that “civil and public servants in the State are hereby advised to take advantage of these work free days to get their PVCs in readiness to make their votes count.”

He further adds that, “government wishes to make it abundantly clear, especially for the benefit of members of the General Public to note that these work free days are not public holidays and should not be seen as one.”

Recall that Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, scheduled Saturday, 25th February, 2023 for presidential and National Assembly elections as well as Saturday, 11th March, 2023 for governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections.
