Cross River Council VC Fingers Gov Otu’s Chief Of Staff In Plans To Impeach Him

Posted on December 9, 2025December 9, 2025 By Admin No Comments on Cross River Council VC Fingers Gov Otu’s Chief Of Staff In Plans To Impeach Him
Yakubu, Ogoja Council VC

Emmanuel Idi Yakubu, Vice Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Cross River North, has alerted the public about plans to impeach him as Vice Chairman of council. Specifically, Yakubu, has fingered Emmanuel Ironbar, Chief of Staff to the Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu, as the arrowhead of the ‘movement’ to unseat him.

On his verified Facebook page, Yakubu wrote: “The Chief Of Staff To The Governor, Mr. Emmanuel Ironbar, has given instructions to the Leader Of Ogoja Council, Elizabeth Nkagafel Mbim to mobilize councillors to commence impeachment procedures on me, because I made a post yesterday showing solidarity oo the State Chairman Of The APC, Alphonsus Ogar Eba. It is laughable and indeed a comic relief to watch such events unfold. Let me reiterate that I stand strongly with the state Chairman, Alphonsus Eba, and I will not apologize for my position or stand.”

“While I wait for the Leader of Council to begin the process, I ask you all to remain calm and not do anything to cause unrest in Ogoja.”

Eba, www.calitown.com can reveal, has been embroiled in a political fight for survival after he was reportedly relieved of his position as APC Chairman, CRS. Political sources within Eba’s APC, on conditions of anonymity, informed us that his travails are linked to his “vocal support for former state governor, Ben Ayade. “The man arranged a welcome airport reception for Ayade that didn’t receive the blessing of State governor, Bassey Otu. You can see that Otu and his core persons were visibly absent at the airport reception and appear to have frowned at Eba’s actions, which showed his political preference over and above a sitting governor, who holds the yam and the knife”, we were told.

Yakubu’s alliance and allegiance to Eba, appear to have ruptured internal political appendixes in the North of Cross River State. Several new decampees to the APC, appear to have subtly sworn to cut Eba, known locally as the “Political Evangelist”, to size. He was unavailable for comments at press time.

Yakubu’s allegation is coming days after Ironbar has come under fire for what political commentators refer to as his “overbearing influence on governance and government policies and decisions”. The subtle campaign against Otu’s COS, has appeared early and may fester, if ongoing internal disagreements inside the APC are not contained.
