Former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke, is disheartened by the abduction of 400 students of the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State.

In a statement made available online, Duke wrote that: “My heart goes out to the parents and loved ones of these children in this agonizing period as we eagerly anticipate their return to the safety of their homes.”

“While it is pertinent to call on all relevant security agencies to leave no stone unturned in tracking down and recovery of our children with utmost urgency, may I also renew my call for the review of our security infrastructure by giving our security agencies better training, increased remuneration to motivate them and modern equipments to enhance their productivity”, he further wrote.

“It is my firm belief that with ample intelligence gathering coupled with modern tracking technologies available, our security agencies will sooner track down and recover our children with immediacy and more importantly ensure that this is never allowed to re-occur in the country”, he concluded.

In what is the latest high profile kidnap of secondary school students in Katsina state, Nigeria, the gang, armed with AK-47s, stormed the school in Kankara district at 9:40pm this past Friday and made away with hundreds of students security forces are still unable to ascertain.
