Gunmen Shoot Cross River Min. Of Edu Accountant Opposite Gov’s Office

Posted on November 30, 2023November 30, 2023 By Admin No Comments on Gunmen Shoot Cross River Min. Of Edu Accountant Opposite Gov’s Office

We can confirm that an accountant with the Cross River State Ministry of Education, identified to www.calitown.com as Dennis Usibe, was yesterday, Wednesday, November 29, 2023, shot at close range after suspected gunmen trailed him to the Old Government Secretariat in Calabar.

Eyewitness accounts maintain that Usibe, who had just made some withdrawals from a bank, was trailed by two suspects, riding a motorcycle, who shot him on the thigh, before an undisclosed amount of money was taken from him, at the secretariat, overlooking the heavily guarded Governor’s Office in Calabar.

A source at the Old Secretariat, Calabar also drew our attention to the fact that, another accountant in the governor’s office was recently dispossessed of a substantial amount of money by two unidentified persons riding a motorcycle. Multiple sources believe both robberies may be related as they follow a similar pattern.

Irene Ugbo, the spokesperson for the state police command, has confirmed the story and further revealed that Usibe was immediately rushed to the Naval Referral Hospital, Calabar for medical attention.

While Ugbo condemned the act, she however gave assurances that the police were already on the trail of the gunmen and they would soon be arrested.
