Touched by the plight of victims of the recent fire incident in Ikom, Cross River State, the senator representing the Central Senatorial District, Eteng Williams, has donated relief materials to the victims.

Williams, represented at the presentation of the materials by Ojong Ayiba, assured the victims of his support at this exceptionally painful period.

He informed the victims that as a direct response to this sad incident, Williams was vigorously advocating for a well equipped fire station to be established in Ikom, to shorten the response time to fire incidents of any sorts within the area.

The relief materials, essentially food items, he added, were donated as a first response to the plight of the victims, assuring them that the senator, as their representative, is disposed to further graduated assistance in this time of need.

Hilda Assim, on behalf of the victims in her response, thanked the senator for showing compassion and responding to their dire situation. She also prayed for wisdom and continued good health for Williams a prayer chorused by most residents of the 48-room property, completely gutted by fire on July 14, 2023. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained at press time.
