The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has issued a Certificate of Return to Bassey Edet Otu, governor-elect of Cross River State as well as to the 25 elected members of the Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA.

Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Cross River State, Gabriel Yomere who issued the certificates today, Friday, March 31st, 2023, at Mike Igini hall, INEC headquarters, Calabar, remarked that this event marked the end of the election process of this year.

While thanking all Cross Riverians as well as non- Cross Riverians for their support throughout the electoral process, was quick to point out that the presentation event aligns with section 72(1) of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) which expressly empowers INEC to issue these certificates to duly elected members within 14 days after an election

To the governor-elect, Yomere admonished him and elected member of the State House of Assembly to be magnanimous in victory, as their victory is a call to service.

Governor-elect, Bassey Otu, in his response, thanked INEC, security agents, the media, Cross Riverians, and non-indigenes for making the election a success. He reiterated that his government will be an all-inclusive one, poised to explore the full.potentials of youths and women, especially.
