Late judge of the Federal High Court, Awka Division, Anambra State, Justice Fatun Odohi Riman, who died in a London hospital on October 27, 2023, has been laid to rest in his hometown, Ediba, Abi LGA, Cross River State.

Prelate/moderator of General Assembly, Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, His Eminence, Ekpenyong Akpanika, who moderated at the funeral service, charged all present and especially the deceased family to understand that death is in the hands of God. “This same God sent Justice Riman without negotiation to the family and has taken him too, without negotiation.”

Wife, Mary (extreme left) and family of the deceased at the church service.

He was also particular that all present must not “let the devil write the last chapter of your life.”

“Death is in the hands God, do not stumble. God sent him here to his mother and for the wife that he left behind; may peace continue to reign in the family. May peace reign supreme and guide you all and whatever is the challenge, God will supply all your needs”, he added.

Cross River State governor, Bassey Otu, in a condolence message sent to the deceased wife, Mary Riman, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the family and described Riman as “…a Judge of the Federal High Court, Awka, Anambra State…a committed Christian, devoted to the cause of justice, fairness and equity.” He added too that, “it is so sad that we will miss his wealth of experience, commitment to community and national development and fatherly advice…While we share in your grief, we encourage you to be encouraged that your husband is in a much better place.”

The late Riman was born on April 24, 1967, in Ediba, Abi LGA, Cross River State. He read law at the University of Benin and graduated in 1990 after which he was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 10, 1991. He joined the law firm of Esu & Associates before setting up his private law firm, Riman & Associates before his elevation to the esteemed position of a Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria in 2012.

He has worked at the Kano, Uyo, Abakiliki and Awka divisions of the Federal High Court, before passing on. A fervent christian, the deceased is survived by his wife, three children, an aged mother and several relations.
