While the last critical bends in the political transition programme are negotiated, front-runner and Cross River State governorship hopeful, Legor Idagbo has dropped his gubernatorial ambition, electing instead to support Ben Ayade for the office of governor, CRS, in 2015, www.calitown.com can reveal.

Sources say his ambition had to collapse in the face of certain political calculations that were not in his favour. One source opines that, “against the formidable internal opposition in the PDP, Idagbo will not survive the cash war and the internecine approach to be deployed by those who are in disagreement with Liyel Imoke”. Idagbo who was Imoke’s most recent Works Commissioner, ran a gubernatorial campaign that drew tremendous followership from a broad spectrum of CRS youths who perhaps saw in him the new face of CR politics.

His detractors on the other hand submit that he is young and lacks political experience, even looks unserious, but his spin doctors have been quick to retort that his rising political profile, articulate disposition and establishment support was making many uncomfortable. In what direction he goes after now will be determined by the establishment whose support he enjoys.
