Police In Calabar Rescue Suspected Kidnappers From Mob

Posted on November 23, 2016 By Admin No Comments on Police In Calabar Rescue Suspected Kidnappers From Mob

kidnap 6Irene Ugbo, Public Relations Officer, Cross River State Police Command, has confirmed to www.calitown.com that the police in Calabar, this afternoon, rescued two men and a woman, suspected to have been in the final stages of an attempt to kidnap an undisclosed person around the old Parliamentary village, from being lynched by a mob in the area which accosted the suspects.

The suspects are thought to have laid in wait for their target in a popular joint close to the Parliamentary village second gate, honed in on their target and moved in to execute their plan, when cries for help attracted a crowd which stalled the kidnap attempt. The suspects were immediately attacked, stripped naked and paraded, while attempts to set them ablaze were only scuttled when heavily armed policemen, acting on a tip off, arrived the area and effectively took charge. The vehicle the suspects rode in was however set on fire by the mob.

At the time of going to press, the suspects had been taken into custody and police sources also confirmed that investigations are in top gear to see if the three suspects belong to a larger kidnap gang.
