Robbers Descend On Calabar Rovers In Port Harcourt

Posted on June 11, 2016 By Admin No Comments on Robbers Descend On Calabar Rovers In Port Harcourt

Players and officials of National League side, Calabar Rovers lost cash and personal belongings close to Eleme, Rivers State on their way to honour a league game in Port Harcourt, www.calitown.com can confirm. It was further disclosed that the robbers waylaid the bus they were travelling in and at gunpoint, looted the bus and let them off.

Reports from the Rovers camp say even though team officials reported the matter to the League regulating body, the body refused to postpone the game. Painfully, www.calitown.com investigations revealed that the team would have travelled earlier than the late journey it made but for the absence of a team bus; the bus the team was travelling in was hired. Beside the absence of a team bus, the entire team it was again discovered has constantly grappled with an acute shortage of funds, making it often difficult for the team to honour home and away matches.

Calabar Rovers, several years ago, the darling team of football followers in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states, has witnessed a massive dip in form and fortunes. Players of the team have on several occasions also staged peaceful demonstrations over unpaid allowances.
