Speaker, receives the Commander in his office.

Speaker of Cross River State House of Assembly, CRSHA, Eteng Jonah Williams, has assured the first female Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Cross River State, E. F. Akinlade, of his continued support for the FRSC.

Williams gave the assurance when the Commander, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The Speaker pointed out that Cross River State has become the leading light in the discourse of gender equality, acknowledging that the Secretary to the State Government, immediate past Head of service and the Chief Judge of the State are all females. The legislator also stated that in the whole of Nigeria, it is only the Cross River State House of Assembly that has five female members, while re-emphasizing the state’s zero tolerance for gender discrimination.

Speaking further, the lawmaker said the emergence of new Sector Commander as the first female to occupy the office in the state remains a pleasant reality, while assuring her of his office’s readiness to continue to partner with the Agency on policies that would strengthen safety on our roads.

Earlier, Akinlade, the new Sector Commander, said the essence of her visit was to appreciate the Speaker for the cooperation, collaboration, and support that the FRSC has enjoyed from his office and to strengthen synergy with the State House of Assembly.

Akinlade said FRSC believes so much in partnerships and collaborations, because safety is everyone’s business. She called for more stakeholder collaboration in the quest to achieve her Agency’s primary mandate of safety on the roads.

She concluded with the assurance that while the lawmakers continue to enact legislations that would better vehicular movement on our roads, the Corps will continue to execute those laws to the latter.
