The Ijiraga Progressives Family on behalf of the Ijiraga community, Yala LGA, Cross River State, has rejoiced over the recent appointment of Asegem Emmanuel as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Timber Control in Cross River North.

At a civic reception in Ijiraga, Yala LGA, to celebrate the appointment, the community said this appointment is a unique show of love and recognition of the visible potentials of their Ijiraga son by the state governor, Bassey Otu.

Joseph Uwakwe, who heads the Ijiraga Progressives Family, while delivering his address at the event, described the appointee as someone who works tenaciously to advance community and state progress.

“We say thank you and we are very grateful for this outstanding gesture toward Ijiraga in particular and Yala at large. The trust bestowed on Asegem Emmanuel in his old and new assignments is undoubtedly being discharged for the good of all Cross Riverians”.

Asegem Emmanuel on his part, announced that from his humble background, indeed he is one who “God showed mercy” in the midst life’s storms. He appreciated the kind gesture of the Ijiraga Progressives Family even as he urged everyone to queue behind the appointees of the governor from the area as frontliners of Ijiraga unity and development. He promised to work and demonstrate progressive capacity in the interest of the state.

Clergy men and women in the area, led by Margaret Ikpa, handed a symbolic flag to Asegem in affirmation that he would continue to be the bridge builder and flag bearer in Ijiraga, Ukelle and beyond the shores of Cross River State.

Eminent personalities at the event include former Yala Local Government chairman, Mike Usibe, Hippolatus Lukpata, Martins Achadu, Brian Odey, Commissioner For Information, Erasmus Ekpang, Senior Special Assistant, Timber Control Central, Daniel Bisong, Patrick Egana, former leader of Yala Legislative Council, as well as Ikobi Ikobi. Also present were All Progressives Congress party chairmen in Ukelle, party stalwarts, friends from the business community and well wishers across Ukelle, Yala, the state and the South East.

It’s great to see the Yala community rallying behind Asegem Emmanuel’s appointment. This kind of local support is crucial for community-driven development. Best wishes to Mr. Asegem in his new role as Senior Special Assistant on Timber Control!
